Andrey Konchalovsky

Film and stage director, screenplay writer.
Born August 20, 1937 in Moscow.
Graduated from the Directing Department of VGIK (1965, workshop of Mikhail Romm). Author of about thirty film scripts, books and articles. For several years made films in the USA and staged dramas and operas at La Scala, Bastille Opera and the Mariinsky theatre. Producer of theatrical events and documentary television projects.
People’s Artist of Russia, prizewinner at international (Cannes, twice Venice) and national film festivals, winner of professional film awards.
Laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation and the State Prize of Kazakhstan.
